Golden Arrows rising star Siyanda Ndlovu believes there is still much more he can achieve after scooping both the Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards for September and October.
Ndlovu earned the accolades following an impressive start to the season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in five matches for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit during that period.
The 23-year-old’s dazzling dribble and clinical finish against Stellenbosch FC on 22 October in Cape Town was voted Goal of the Month, edging out strong contenders such as Marumo Gallants’ Jaisen Clifford for his strike against Kaizer Chiefs and Thabang Matuludi’s last-minute winner for Polokwane City against Chippa United.
“I’m super happy,” Ndlovu said. “It shows that as a player, I’m growing and capable of doing more. This recognition gives me confidence that there’s still a lot more I can achieve.”
The right winger, who has made 58 appearances in all competitions for Arrows, added about the hype of social media: “I don’t let social media get to my head, but at the same time, it motivates me to keep improving and give people even more of what they’re seeing now.”
“What’s happening around me right now makes me happy because I’ve worked hard, and I feel I deserve these good moments.”
Ndlovu, who recently changed his surname from Mthanti, said he is finally performing at the level he has always aspired to reach.
“I think the stage I’m at now is exactly where I wanted to be. My uncle played a huge role in helping me reach this point, and I’m grateful for that,” he said.
Despite Ndlovu’s individual brilliance, Abafana Bes’Thende have suffered back-to-back defeats — losing to Orlando Pirates in the league and to Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout semi-final on penalties.
The Durban-based side currently sits ninth on the Betway Premiership table with 16 points from 12 matches.
After the FIFA international break, Golden Arrows will return to action with an away clash against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on 23 November.
