Orlando Pirates coach Abdelsam Ouaddou praises Camren Dansin's talent following a stunning goal.
Ouaddou displayed strong confidence in the 20-year-old Dansin by including him alongside Masindi Nemtajela and Sihle Nduli in the midfield during a fiercely contested Betway Premiership match at Loftus Stadium on Saturday.
Dansin's inclusion proved valuable as he volleyed the ball from the edge of the box with his left foot in the 35th minute, netting his first senior goal and equalizing for Pirates.
The move came after Sundowns failed to clear a corner, allowing Dansin to strike it powerfully, leaving goalkeeper Ronwen Williams unable to react in time.
This goal has emerged as a contender for goal of the season and is expected to be widely discussed in the coming days.
“It’s quite difficult for a coach, you know, because if we had lost this game, many would criticize my decision to play an inexperienced player,” stated Ouaddou.
“However, having worked in development for several years, I believe in giving opportunities to talented South Africans to shine.”
“What we did today in such an important match was to provide him with a significant experience, and I plan to continue giving chances to young players to develop.”
“I support the inclusion of youth, especially those from South Africa who possess talent; they need opportunities.”
The match ended in a draw, allowing Sundowns to retain their position at the top of the PSL standings with 22 points after 11 matches, three points ahead of Pirates, who moved to third place with 19 points after nine matches played.
Kaizer Chiefs, who secured a victory over Durban City on Friday, now sit in fourth place but share the same points as Pirates.
Pirates are still in search of their first league victory against Sundowns in Pretoria since 2018.
