Paul Gascoigne’s ability to land a prank was second only to his skill on the football pitch. Players who have shared a dressing room or training ground with him likely experienced one of Gazza's infamous antics, as the former England star never hesitated to push boundaries.
Whenever a teammate doubted his knack for humor, Gazza would take it a step further. One memorable incident involved an ostrich.
Gazza on his infamous ostrich prank
“At Spurs, the lads said I wasn’t funny,” Gazza recalled. “So I went, ‘I’ll show you.’”
In a night filled with creativity, Gazza reportedly passed a zoo and devised the perfect plan. The following morning, he humorously asked to borrow an ostrich, and astonishingly, his request was granted.
“I waited until the lads were warming up and sent it onto the pitch. It was f**king funny,” he said, chuckling at the memory.
He also shared the challenges of capturing the ostrich after training. “We finished at 12:30 pm, and I tried to catch the ostrich. F**k, it took me about three hours; I was f**ked!”
In the end, Gazza succeeded, with feathers scattered everywhere, and once again, he proved why telling him he wasn’t funny was a bad idea. This legendary tale remains a tribute to his unique sense of humor.
