Phasmophobia developer Kinetic Games believes that 2026 will be "one of the biggest years in the game's history" as it approaches the full release.
The team has announced exciting new features, including "more immersive animations" for the early access ghosthunting game. Players can look forward to seeing their character model interact with the EMF Reader, as well as opening, closing, and handling equipment in a more realistic manner.
These changes will come alongside new death and revive animations, along with the highly anticipated Player Character Update, expected to release between now and March 2026.
We’ve created brand new character models, improved animations, and fine-tuned the overall gameplay experience,” the developers commented. “The goal is to create the most immersive environment possible. These enhancements will address any disjointed movements, making for a life-like experience.”
Though plans aimed for a launch before the end of 2025, Kinetic stated they could not meet that date but assured fans it was for good reasons.
Finally, as detailed in the Development Preview, #Phasmophobia 1.0 will launch in 2026, which will include our reworked Horror update. Stay tuned for more details as we’re ready to share.
Kinetic also mentioned how giving updates time to evolve, as seen with Chronicle earlier this year, is beneficial. Thus, the Player Character Update is set to launch in Q1 2026.
The game will also see a renovation of Tanglewood, reassuring players that it will maintain the essence of the level while introducing fresh elements. Additionally, a mystery awaits players behind the address of 6 Tanglewood Drive, adding another layer of intrigue.
Furthermore, Kinetic Games is looking to expand its horizons with the launch of Kinetic Publishing, aiming to discover innovative titles from small teams and solo developers globally.
