Springbok flyhalf Manie Libbok and loose forward Kwagga Smith look forward to a challenging match against the Pumas this Saturday.
The teams are set to meet at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham in London next Saturday in what could be a critical match for the Rugby Championship title, depending on the outcomes of upcoming rounds.
Libbok and Smith are fixated on the immediate task at hand, emphasizing the necessity for the Boks to perform well this weekend to maintain their title defense, especially with all four teams in contention for the trophy.
Libbok highlighted the Pumas’ speed and agility, noting, “Many of their players come from a sevens rugby background… so we know we have a big challenge on our hands this weekend.”
He acknowledged the importance of aerial confrontations, stating, “They are also very good in the aerial battle, which is an area we also pride ourselves on, making it a key aspect of this match.”
Smith echoed these sentiments regarding the Pumas’ physical prowess, specifically in the loose forwards. He remarked, “They have very mobile loose forwards who get around the park and are good at winning turnovers, presenting a challenge in that regard.”
Smith noted Argentina's growth, commenting on their blend of experienced and younger players that enhances their strength as a team.
Discussing his recent performance off the bench and his contributions to the team’s significant win against the All Blacks, Libbok expressed humility, stating, “It was good to come off the bench and fulfill the role that was expected of me.”
He also praised his teammates, including Handre Pollard and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, highlighting their collaborative dynamic that drives mutual improvement.
Libbok concluded, “I’ve put a lot of work into my goal-kicking, and it’s rewarding to see the effort yield results, which I will continue to pursue.”
The match is scheduled to start at 17:10 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
