Roblox has launched a global facial age verification system, mandatory for players wishing to access in-game chat. However, the transition has faced significant challenges, with some users experiencing inaccurate age assessments, others discovering bypass methods, and many opting out due to privacy issues.
The age verification initiative first debuted in early December in Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands, and is now being rolled out to all regions equipped with chat functionalities. This AI-driven age estimation involves analyzing users' facial features, and those over the age of 13 have the alternative option to confirm their age via ID.
