Ron Perlman Shares Hilarious Details About His Fallout Compensation

Renowned actor Ron Perlman is famous among Fallout enthusiasts for his legendary voice line, "War. War never changes." Recently, he disclosed the surprising payment he received for his role in the original Fallout game.

During a guest appearance on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, Perlman revealed, "They invited me to do the very first Fallout and gave me $40 and a sandwich." This amusing anecdote reflects his initial involvement with the franchise.

The inaugural Fallout game, produced by Interplay, was released in 1997. Perlman later recalled the moment he learned of Fallout's immense popularity: "A year and a half later, I get a call, 'Hey, you remember Fallout?' No. 'Well, there's a second one.' I go, 'Why?' 'Because the first one went through the f**king roof.'" He expressed his excitement, saying, "I go, 'Really? Cool.' Do the second one, then the third, fourth, and now it's a whole brand."

Interestingly, Perlman confessed that he has never played any Fallout games, nor has he spent time with the development teams. "No. I did a couple of lines, got my $40 and my sandwich, and went home," he noted, leaving fans curious about the type of sandwich he received.

Fallout 2 was crafted by Black Isle Studios, and in 2007, Bethesda acquired the rights to the series. They later released Fallout 3 in 2008, marking their first title in the series, followed by Fallout 4 in 2015 and Fallout 76 in 2018. Currently, Fallout 5 is under development, although it won't be available in the near future.

In the meantime, Bethesda is reportedly working on remakes of Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Additionally, in the realm of television, Prime Video's Fallout series is currently airing, with Episode 5 having launched on January 14. After three more episodes, the series will conclude on February 4, and a third season was announced back in May 2025.
