Siwelele coach Lehlohonolo Seema shared his thoughts on the role his side’s senior players have in guiding younger players to adapt to top-tier football, whilst expressing his belief that Samir Nurkovic can regain his form.
Siwelele boasts one of the most experienced forward lines in the Betway Premiership, with players like Vincent Pule, Christian Saile, Nurkovic, and Zakhele Lepasa forming Seema’s squad.
The Bloemfontein-based side gave Orlando Pirates a tough challenge in the Carling Knockout round of 16, but ultimately fell short due to a stunning late strike by Mbekezeli Mbokazi at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
“It’s always nice to blend experience with youth, but if you check those players, they haven’t had a lot of game time, so it’s going to take time for us,” Seema remarked about his experienced players.
“So yeah, we are happy having them around, bringing experience to the team,” he added regarding his side’s youngsters.
The former Sekhukhune United mentor also expressed optimism about Nurkovic’s potential return to the form he displayed during his early days at Kaizer Chiefs.
“To see him smiling like that in the field of play, I can tell you that in the first week I arrived at training, you could see he was coming,” Seema noted.
The 33-year-old Serbian striker joined Siwelele during its transition from SuperSport United, marking his fifth club since arriving in South Africa in July 2019.
“He looks happy, he looks energetic, he looks like he’ll get back into his old days,” the Siwelele FC gaffer commented.
Seema will be hoping his team's mix of youth and experience will lead them back to victory when they take on Kaizer Chiefs, away from home, after the international break.
