Final Fantasy fans can expect certain familiar elements in the series: a character named Cid, moogles, chocobos, the iconic musical arpeggio, and... surveys? For years, Square Enix has actively sought input from its fanbase about the direction of this beloved franchise.
In 2017, feedback was gathered for Final Fantasy 15; in 2015, players' opinions about moogles were surveyed; and Naoki 'Yoshi-P' Yoshida frequently polls Final Fantasy 14 players. Recently, a survey was conducted to understand interest in Final Fantasy 16, and now, the company is once again turning to fans for their thoughts. This poll will close on January 9th.
As of now, details regarding the future of the mainline series remain vague. Yoshi-P mentioned in a previous interview that the development team has yet to decide whether the next title will maintain traditional turn-based gameplay or lean towards a cinematic approach.
If you have specific ideas about the franchise's future—perhaps a desire for more turn-based mechanics or influences from games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33—feel free to contribute your thoughts through the survey.
Interestingly, Kazutoyo Maehiro, director of the Final Fantasy Tactics remake, hinted that a successful re-release could lead to a sequel and demonstrate the market potential of the strategy RPG genre.
There’s an open feedback section at the end of the survey, allowing you to express any opinions you may have. I've taken the opportunity to request more Final Fantasy Tactics-related games. Feel free to share your thoughts, but let's keep the discussion respectful.
