Sharks Look to Make Impact Against Ulster in Home Opener

Hollywoodbets Sharks' Ethan Hooker Eyes Statement Victory Against Ulster

The Sharks are set to host Ulster at Kings Park Stadium on Saturday at 16:00, marking their return to home turf after a challenging start to the Vodacom United Rugby Championship season with three consecutive away games.

Commencing their campaign with a tough match against the Glasgow Warriors in Scotland, the Sharks faced additional setbacks against Gragon and reigning champions Munster in Dublin last week.

With the return of several Springbok players, including Ox Nche, Eben Etzebeth, and Siya Kolisi, the Sharks are bolstered for this critical match. They will also see Bongi Mbonambi and Vincent Koch adding their experience after playing off the bench last weekend.

The backline will benefit from the inclusion of Grant Williams at scrumhalf and Andre Esterhuizen at inside centre. Additionally, Siya Masuku will earn his first start of the season, while Jordan Hendrikse returns from injury to strengthen the bench options.

Hooker emphasized the significance of the home game, stating, “I think it’s huge. We don’t want to lose at home, and I think we’re going to come out firing from the start — and hopefully keep that intensity for the full 80 minutes.”

The Springbok, with five Test caps, noted that he cherishes the home ground atmosphere, having started his season with limited appearances.

In contrast to the Sharks, Ulster has begun their season strongly, securing victories in their first two matches, making them a formidable opponent for the Sharks.

However, a positive note for the Sharks is their recent head-to-head performance against Ulster, having emerged victorious in three of their last four encounters.

“Ulster, like any other top team, are very clinical and physical,” Hooker highlighted. “We just have to match them, overpower them, and use our experienced forwards to get us over the gain line. Once the backs get the platform, we can turn that into points.”
