Siwelele have confirmed the signing of defender Kegan Johannes from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The move was anticipated after Siwelele’s chairman, Calvin Le John, announced on Sunday that the club planned to bring in new players and release five or six who have underperformed since the start of the season.
A Troubled Start
Siwelele came into existence when Le John purchased the status of SuperSport United during the offseason. However, the club has had a difficult start, currently sitting in 14th place in the Betway Premiership table with just four points from seven matches.
They have secured only one win, drawn one, and lost five of their games so far.
Johannes’s Journey
Ironically, Johannes was originally signed by Sundowns from SuperSport United at the beginning of the 2024/25 season. He has made six appearances for Sundowns across all competitions but has not played at all this season.
His lack of a future at Sundowns was highlighted when he was included in the CHAN team last month, even though the PSL season had just begun.
This decision made it clear that he was not expected to feature prominently for the club this season. Johannes is set to make his debut for Siwelele against Orlando Pirates at Free State Stadium on Tuesday.
