Splitgate Arena Reloaded developer 1047 Games has responded to concerns about its game’s performance on Steam, stating, "Steam Charts don't measure fun." The game initially launched as Splitgate 2, but after failing to meet expectations, it underwent a beta phase that resulted in layoffs within the studio. The relaunch of Splitgate Arena Reloaded was announced for December 17th, following its rebranding and extensive updates.
Since the relaunch, reports indicate that the peak concurrent player count was 2,297, which has since stabilized around 1,000 players. While player numbers are important, 1047 Games emphasizes that they don't fully capture the enjoyment or community engagement. The developer noted, "They show one number, on one platform, at one given moment. They don't show the full picture or what it feels like to actually play."
The team expressed commitment to enhancing the game and thanked the community for their support and feedback. They encouraged potential players to try the game, highlighting that, "Arena Reloaded is free, and the gameplay's the best it's ever been. A lot of passionate people worked very hard on it." In an effort to boost interest, Splitgate is hosting a range of competitive events, including a $5,000 tournament and a community challenge with a $25,000 prize. Will this renewed effort bring Splitgate back into the FPS spotlight?
