Mathys Tel, who made a permanent move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, is reportedly contemplating leaving the club this January.
Tel joined Tottenham from Bayern Munich for approximately £30 million following a successful loan spell with Ange Postecoglou's team. However, it appears that new manager Thomas Frank is not as keen on Tel, having taken over shortly before the winger's signing was confirmed.
Left out of Tottenham's Champions League squad in September, Tel was only added in December due to an injury to Dominic Solanke. This season, as captain of the France U21s, Tel has struggled for game time, starting only five Premier League matches.
Despite scoring the opener in a recent match against Bournemouth, which ended in a 3-2 defeat for Tottenham, French outlet RMC Sport now reports that Tel is assessing his options as the transfer window approaches. At just 20 years old, Tel is ambitious and desires regular playing time to bolster his chances of making France's World Cup squad.
While Tel is reportedly open to leaving for consistent game time, it is noted that Tottenham may only consider a loan move for the young winger rather than a permanent transfer. With ongoing pressure on manager Thomas Frank due to the team's recent performance, the future of players like Tel could be contingent on upcoming results in the Premier League and cup competitions.
