Before 2026 heats up, several small and mid-sized game releases are on the horizon, with unexpected arrivals like Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown making the coming weeks busier than anticipated.
Publisher Daedalic Entertainment has announced a new 'combat deep dive' trailer and confirmed a February 18 launch date for the game, which will now also be available on the Nintendo Switch 2. The standard edition is priced at $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99, while a Deluxe Edition featuring five additional missions, two new recruitable heroes, and three new technologies is available for $49.99 / £44.99 / €49.99.
This story-driven survival strategy game has captured attention since its announcement. Combining strategy, narrative journeys, and survival themes within a renowned sci-fi franchise is a fresh take. Across the Unknown borrows elements from earlier Star Trek games that allowed players to command starships and manage entire crews, evident in the involved combat showcased in the trailer.
Furthermore, the gameplay loop is set to be diverse, involving decision-making, exploration, management, research, and combat. Using mechanics reminiscent of familiar systems, the game aims to appeal to both dedicated Trekkies and casual gamers.
The game seems especially suited for Nintendo Switch 2's handheld mode, given its relaxed and menu-driven pace. It will also be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with demos currently offered on those platforms for players to experience before making a purchase.
