Massive Entertainment has confirmed that Julian Gerighty, the executive producer for The Division franchise, is departing the company to join Battlefield Studios.
Ubisoft expressed their sentiments, stating, "While we'll miss him, his mark will live on at Massive and we'll continue to bring the world he's been part of creating to our players for years to come." They reassured fans by saying, "Don't worry" about Gerighty's departure. "Our teams who built this world with Julian are still here, carrying it forward with an ambitious commitment for the future of The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence, and The Division 3."
In his own statement regarding the transition, Gerighty noted, "It's time for me to hang up my go bag (keeping the watch) as I go on another grand adventure." He added, "The Division future burns bright, and I can't wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on. Long live The Division and Godspeed!"
Having co-directed The Division and The Division 2, Gerighty also served as the creative director on Star Wars Outlaws. In 2023, he was promoted to become the executive producer for the entire The Division series. Under his guidance, The Division: Heartland was canceled, while The Division 3 is on the horizon, with Gerighty recently describing it as shaping up to be a "monster."
The specifics of Gerighty's new role at EA and Battlefield Studios remain unclear. The company most recently launched the successful Battlefield 6 in 2025, which was the No. 1 best-selling title in the US through November. Its Season 2 update, however, has been recently postponed to mid-February.
