Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly secured their first signing of the January transfer window, bringing in Brazilian player Souza from Santos.
Life in north London has been challenging for the new head coach Thomas Frank, as Spurs find themselves languishing in 14th place halfway through the season.
Despite facing criticism for a defensive playing style, Frank's initial investment focuses on strengthening the back line, particularly at left-back, where competition is fierce between Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie, with Spence currently in favor.
Tottenham Look to Brazil for Newest Recruit
According to journalist Eduardo Burgos, the deal for Souza is reported to be worth around €15 million and includes a five-year contract for the young defender. Souza is expected to travel to England early this week to undergo his medical exams and finalize the agreement.
The 19-year-old comes from a solid season in the 2025 Serie A, making 24 league appearances and contributing with one goal and two assists.
This strategic move signals Tottenham's commitment to fortifying their defense while planning for the future.
