Tottneham Hotspur have been named the most profitable club of the Premier League era.
This news may not come as a surprise to Spurs fans, especially given their frustrations with former chairman Daniel Levy regarding team investments.
However, with the construction of a world-class stadium, a Europa League victory, and a Champions League final appearance during his tenure, Levy might argue that his financial strategies warrant more commendation.
Tottenham’s Close Rivals Record £1.2bn Loss in Premier League Era
The financial data has been shared by football finance expert Kieran Maguire, who has detailed the profit or loss of each club since the Premier League's inception in 1992.
Tottenham stands out with a total pre-tax profit of £183.2 million over the past three decades, placing them at the top of the financial standings.
They are closely followed by Arsenal and Burnley, both of which have reported profits exceeding £130 million.
In contrast, Chelsea has a troubling financial score, having registered a staggering loss of £1.2 billion since 1992, significantly more than any other club, including Aston Villa, which recorded a £677.9 million loss.
Along with Chelsea, several clubs, including Everton, Manchester City, Fulham, Manchester United, Sunderland, and others, are accountable for a notable 90% of the total Premier League losses, which amount to £4.99 billion since the league's formation.
Maguire's analysis indicates that while Chelsea’s recent spending spree under BlueCo is alarming, much of the losses stem from Roman Abramovich's ownership period, which he described as “sustainable,” provided the owner continues with the financial support.
