Starfield has experienced mixed reactions since its launch in 2023, but a groundbreaking mod is changing that. The Star Wars: Genesis mod, launched in 2024, adds lightsabers and an immersive experience for PC players eager for a fresh take.
Developed by modder DeityVengy, this free mod is available on Nexus Mods. It features an original narrative set between the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies, with an update expected by the end of January, showcasing new features highlighted in a recent video.
In the presentation, DeityVengy explains that lightsaber combat necessitates a first-person perspective, as traditional melee animations in Starfield couldn't adequately represent this iconic weaponry. Players will face a decision to either spare or slay a Nightsister from Dathomir, adding depth to the interactive story.
On the official mod site, DeityVengy reveals that Lucasfilm granted “express permission” for the Star Wars music integrated into the mod, sourced from various Star Wars titles, including Knights of the Old Republic and The Force Unleashed. Additionally, the mod includes licensed AI-generated voices alongside performances from actual voice actors.
Currently, Star Wars: Genesis is exclusively available for PC players. Bethesda has also indicated that Starfield will receive further story DLC, details of which were shared at a recent closed-door preview.
