Ubisoft has re-uploaded a sizable collection of sea shanties from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, further indicating that a remake announcement is on the horizon.
These tracks can be enjoyed on the Ubisoft Music YouTube channel, featuring popular sailing songs such as Over the Hills and Far Away and Spanish Ladies. Comments from fans, like one from Spriteking3944, have pointed out the subtlety of Ubisoft's release.
The rumored remake of Black Flag has become a poorly kept secret within Ubisoft. Back in August of last year, voice actor Matt Ryan revealed that he faced legal action from Ubisoft after playfully hinting at the project during a convention.
Last November, Ubisoft's financial reports mentioned an unannounced title set to release in the fourth quarter of the current financial year. Additionally, a PEGI listing for a Black Flag remake was discovered in December, hinting at an upcoming reveal soon after The Game Awards. Furthermore, a recent collaboration between Raid: Shadow Legends and Ubisoft has led to increased speculation about the remake.
While these musical uploads could serve as part of an archival effort by Ubisoft, they add to the growing anticipation surrounding the Black Flag remake. When and how this will be officially revealed remains uncertain.
If you haven't played Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, consider checking out a review by Tom Bradwell, who praised the game's protagonist, stating that while Edward may lack the charm of Ezio Auditore, he ultimately feels like a more rounded character.
