To get the hotel ready for guests, you’ll need to showcase your design talents and assist Kapp’n’s family in setting it up.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to unlock the Resort Hotel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Start by decorating Room 1 for Leilani, but don’t forget to have a chat with Tom Nook first; after all, he needs to be in the loop!

Ensure you have the 3.0.0 version of the game, visible at the top right corner during the main menu loading screen.

When you’re ready, head to the pier where you meet Kapp’n for tours. Walk along until you spot the Hotel entrance and step inside.

Inside, you will meet Tom Nook, Kapp’n, and Leilani. Agree to help decorate the rooms for the hotel’s opening by talking to Leilani at the reception desk on the left.

Select the 'I'll help' option, and she’ll take you up to Room 1. You need to fully decorate this room to officially open the Hotel.

Decorating in the hotel is similar to how you would in your home and holiday homes in Happy Home Paradise, providing the same options for customization.

Leilani will suggest a theme for the Hotel Room along with furniture that matches it, accessible via the recommended tab by pressing right on your directional pad. While it’s not mandatory to use these items, we recommend incorporating some to suit the theme well.

You can take your time when decorating, and utilize features from the Happy Home Paradise DLC like resizing rooms or adding soundscapes.

If you’d like to take a break, let Leilani know and your progress will be saved for later.

When you’re happy with your creation, capture a photograph of the room using the Camera App on your Nook Phone and inform Leilani that you’re finished.

After a brief dialogue, the Hotel will be ready for business, welcoming its first guests. As a reward for your hard work, you’ll receive 200 Tickets, usable at Gram’s Souvenir Shop within the hotel.
