Elias Toufexis, the voice actor for Adam Jensen in the Deus Ex series, has humorously confirmed that no new entry in the franchise will be launching in 2026, calling the current management 'psychopaths.'
This lighthearted yet disappointing news was shared on Toufexis's Twitter account, where he also posted an amusing glimpse of his projects for 2026. While one of these projects is clearly identified as Bungie's upcoming shooter, Marathon, the details of the other three remain under wraps due to non-disclosure agreements.
Given that the voice actor's involvement sparked renewed hope among fans for a new Deus Ex title, it’s worth noting that the series hasn't seen a fresh installment since Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in 2016. The beloved franchise has remained quiet, with the last major releases being the original games and the critically acclaimed Human Revolution.
Toufexis expressed his frustration, stating: "no Deus Ex because the people in charge are psychopaths." This sentiment resonates strongly with fans, especially after Mankind Divided concluded with an unresolved cliffhanger.
In terms of current management, Mankind Divided was developed by Eidos Montreal and published by Square Enix, who sold the intellectual property to the Embracer Group in 2022. The Embracer Group subsequently canceled a Deus Ex project in 2024, significantly reducing the studio's workforce. As of now, they still hold the rights to both the franchise and the studio.
While the fate of the Deus Ex series remains uncertain, there is a glimmer of hope. With Crystal Dynamics, another studio sold to Embracer, recently announcing a new Tomb Raider game, fans can only wish for Adam Jensen's return as well.
