Zimbabwe national team coach Marian Marinica has included five players currently plying their trade in the PSL in his final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the Warriors will face Bafana Bafana later this month.
However, there is still no place for former PSL star Khama Billiat, a past PSL Footballer of the Season.
Marinica, who recently replaced Michael Nees after Zimbabwe failed to win a single match in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers—a group that also included Bafana Bafana—has called up veteran goalkeeper Washington Arubi of Marumo Gallants as well as Elvis Chipezeze of Magesi FC.
Gallants winger Daniel Msendami, a teammate of Arubi, has also been included.
Also named in the squad are Junior Zindoga of TS Galaxy and Divine Lunga of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona, who made his return to the national team, is part of the squad, as is Teenage Hadebe, another former Chiefs defender.
However, Marshal Munetsi—formerly of Orlando Pirates and now on the books of Wolves in England—misses out due to injury. His absence will be felt deeply, as he is the team’s captain.
Zimbabwe open their AFCON campaign against Egypt on 22 December, before facing Angola on Boxing Day. They will conclude their Group B fixtures against Bafana Bafana on 29 December.
