Rumors circulated in October 2025 regarding a possible port of Larian Studios' acclaimed RPG, Baldur's Gate 3, for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, recent confirmations indicate that this is not the case, as Larian has stated that the beloved D&D title will not be making its way to the new console.
During a recent AMA on Reddit, Baldur's Gate 3 director Swen Vincke expressed that the team was eager to develop a Switch 2 port, but their request was ultimately denied.
“We would have loved to [bring Baldur's Gate 3 to Switch 2], but [it] wasn't our decision to make,” Vincke explained.
This implies that either Nintendo or Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast, who hold the Dungeons & Dragons rights, may have halted the port's development.
In a different part of the Reddit session, Vincke mentioned a potential smaller project that was initially planned after Baldur's Gate 3, indicating that it was intended to be “another D&D game,” but he noted that the opportunity has passed.
Recently, Larian released an enhanced version of Divinity: Original Sin II on Switch 2 and other current-generation consoles. During The Game Awards, the studio announced its focus has shifted towards a new installment in the Divinity franchise. Vincke shared the pressure they feel to surpass the success of Baldur's Gate 3 with their upcoming project.
“It's more pressure,” said Vincke. “The weight of the expectations weighs high. We're trying not to think about it, because we have to make our own thing.”
No release date has been provided for the new Divinity project.
