The ongoing issues with RAM shortages and rising prices are starting to impact various hardware components reliant on fast memory, particularly graphics cards. This situation has reportedly prompted Nvidia to discontinue production of at least two models in the 50-series, specifically the RTX 5070Ti and the 16GB variant of the RTX 5060Ti.
According to a report from Hardware Unboxed, both graphics cards have been classified as "end of life" by several GPU manufacturers, indicating that no new inventory will be produced. During CES 2026, Asus, one of Nvidia's primary AIB partners, confirmed that acquiring stock for the RTX 5070Ti and RTX 5060Ti has become increasingly challenging, stating that current supplies will be the last available until further developments arise.
Update: Asus has since issued a statement clarifying that any misinformation regarding the discontinuation of these models may have originated from a company spokesperson. The company assures that there are no plans to cease sales of these GPUs, but cautions that RAM shortages might lead to limited supply in certain markets.
Further insights from the report reveal that Asus is not the only manufacturer facing these challenges, as multiple retailers—especially in Australia—have reported similar stock limitations for the RTX 5070Ti and RTX 5060Ti. Meanwhile, the RTX 5070, equipped with 12GB of VRAM, remains unaffected, and more economical cards, such as the standard RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM, will continue to be manufactured. Currently, the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 are the only models within this generation offering 16GB or more VRAM, albeit at escalated prices.
Moreover, Hardware Unboxed indicates that Nvidia initially planned to unveil a refresh of the 50-series at CES 2026 but has since postponed the launch of these upgraded models to an indefinite date. The report suggests that if RAM prices do not stabilize soon, this new product line may be scrapped entirely, leaving gamers with limited options when looking to build or upgrade a PC capable of handling modern, resource-intensive titles.
