Tom Clancy's The Division is marking its 10th anniversary this year, and players of The Division 2 are in for a special treat. A significant update set for release in March will introduce a Realism Mode, offering fans a fresh way to engage with the game.
This new mode will be exclusive to those who have purchased the Warlords of New York expansion. Realism Mode presents a stripped-down gameplay experience, altering or removing some traditional elements such as the HUD, maps, and hitmarkers, along with adjustments to XP and leveling progression. Players will have to navigate a rebalanced arsenal where shooting an enemy's arm or leg will yield less effective results, with headshots remaining the reliable method, especially since ammunition will be more scarce.
In the announcement video from Ubisoft, it was hinted that the anniversary season will include collaborations with another Tom Clancy franchise, though specific details were not disclosed. Anticipated additions may include outfits and gear inspired by titles like Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six Siege, and Ghost Recon.
Post-anniversary season, Ubisoft intends to roll out additional content for The Division 2, but specifics on that content will be shared in March.
In related news, a definitive edition of The Division was recently observed in Japan, raising questions about its potential announcement. Meanwhile, The Division 3 is actively in development, with franchise executive producer Julian Gerighty hinting that it is "shaping up to be a monster."
